How I can help.
Sometimes the issue doesn’t fit neatly into a service category.
LINEMAN Consulting provides independent, practical support across the electricity sector — from the field to the boardroom.
That might mean understanding an operational issue, reviewing a system or process, supporting an investigation, helping with technical change, or simply providing an independent perspective.
The starting point isn’t a predefined service.
It’s understanding what you need help with.

From the field…
Understanding how work is actually done matters.
LINEMAN can work alongside field teams, supervisors and frontline leaders to understand what is really happening — not just what a procedure or system says should be happening.
That might mean understanding an operational issue, reviewing a work practice or control, testing whether a procedure makes sense in practice, or bringing the experience of the people doing the work into an improvement discussion.

…through the business…
Many issues don’t belong neatly to one department.
They sit somewhere between operations, HSEQ, engineering, systems, people, processes and leadership.
LINEMAN can help connect those perspectives — bringing people together, asking questions, challenging existing thinking where needed and helping turn complex issues into practical improvements.

…to the boardroom.
Sometimes what’s needed is an experienced, independent perspective.
LINEMAN can support senior leaders and governance teams with operational and technical insight, strategic thinking, assurance and an independent perspective — while understanding how decisions made at leadership level translate into work on the ground.

Governance and technical change.
Technical change is rarely just about writing a new document.
Through industry governance roles, including the EEA Safety Standards and Procedures Group, I have worked with people from across the electricity sector to develop, review and improve industry standards, guidance and work practices.
That experience includes bringing different technical perspectives together, challenging existing approaches and leading change through consultation, collaboration and industry engagement.
LINEMAN can support the development and review of technical and operational documentation — from practical Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions through to complex rules, standards and industry requirements such as the Safety Manual – Electricity Industry (SM-EI).
The objective isn’t simply technically correct documentation. It needs to be understood, usable in practice and supported by the people expected to apply it.

Where that might help.
Every engagement is different, but areas where LINEMAN may be able to help include:
Electrical safety and critical risk
Work practices, controls, procedures, technical risk, assurance and independent review.
Investigations and learning
Incidents, events and emerging issues — understanding what happened, why it happened and what can be learned.
Operational improvement
Processes, systems, interfaces and work practices that aren’t delivering the outcome intended.
Governance and technical change
Standards, rules, procedures, technical documentation, consultation and implementation of change.
Leadership and capability
Coaching, mentoring, workshops, facilitated conversations and strengthening organisational capability.
Independent thinking
Challenging an existing approach, testing an idea or bringing another perspective to an issue or decision.

Not sure what you need?
You may have a clearly defined piece of work, an issue that crosses several parts of the business, or simply know that something isn’t working as well as it should.
You don’t need to have the answer before you call.
That’s enough to start a conversation.
No predetermined solution. Start with the issue.
