Insights.
Ideas. Experience. Different ways of looking at things.
More than four decades in the electricity industry has taught me that some of the best lessons don’t come from procedures, standards or textbooks.
They come from experience, conversations, incidents, successes, failures and being prepared to challenge the way we’ve always done things.
Sometimes a simple analogy can explain a complex issue better than another process or procedure.
Insights is where I share some of that thinking.

The quiet strength of the network.
Why one of the most overlooked components of an electricity network became the symbol for LINEMAN Consulting.
Most people probably don’t give much thought to an insulator.
Drive past a power pole and your eye is more likely to notice the pole, the conductor or the transformer.
The insulator just sits there.
Quietly doing its job.
But it has an incredibly important role. It supports the conductor, provides separation and helps manage the energy carried by the network.
When it’s doing its job well, nobody notices it.
I like that.
